Chef Roland began his gastronomic career in France, then made his way to The French Room in Dallas to win the James Beard Award for Best Rising Star Chef in 1980. He opened La Folie in 1988, earning a Michelin star and a longstanding place among the Bay Area’s top restaurants.
He was inducted in 1991 by the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, which honored him with their Lifetime Achievement award in 2015. Left Bank Brasserie, now 29 years old, continues to thrive and now has several sister restaurants.
